Kurokawa Mizuki

Kurokawa Mizuki is a government agent sent to infiltrate the Supernatural Detective Agency and goes under the pesudonym of Satou Akane. After witnessing her parents being murdered by a supernatural, she swore to take revenge and closed off her heart to everyone, including her childhood friend, Hajime Katashi. Knowing only hate and despair, she swears to rid the world of supernaturals and takes on the infiltration mission in an attempt to discover her parents' murderer. She disguises her true intentions under a cheery, modest personality and a kind smile.

As she delves further into the agency, she gradually begins to question her values and what she's known thus far.



Trivia
-Her last name, Kurokawa, translates into 'black river', whereas her first name 'Mizuki' means 'moon'. Meanwhile, her fake name 'Akane' translates into 'brilliant red'.
-Her parents were murdered by a supernatural when she was 14. Afterwards, she was taken in by a distant relative who was always busy with work and couldn't properly take care of Mizuki.

Kazehaya Kiyoshi

"Hello. My name is Kazehaya Kiyoshi. I am a secretary working at the Supernatural Detective Agency. I look forward to working with all of you from now on. Together, let's wait patiently for everyone else."


Kiyoshi is the secretary of the Supernatural Detective Agency and works alongside Fawkes, although that all changes when he has to accompany Mizuki on one of her missions. Concerned for her safety, he requests to join her on the Supernatural Squad and uses his supernatural tengu powers to assist her.
With a sweet and kind personality, he happily takes care of everyone at the dorms, including the Director. Despite that, it appears as though there's some sadness behind that charming smile of his. What on earth could be the cause?

Special Abilties
-He can fly at high altitudes and has the ability to manipulate the wind.
-His speed and his strength are enhanced.
-Due to unknown circumstances, his powers are currently limited but he can create a tornado if he focuses hard enough.
-When his powers weren't limited, he could effortlessly create tornadoes to defeat his enemies and could use an array of other wind techniques.

-His birthday is on the 6th of December.
-His preferred choice of weapon is a blade.
-In his tengu forms, his eyes become amber and his hair becomes long enough to tie a ponytail.
-His last name, Kazehaya, translates into 'Fast wind', whereas Kiyoshi means 'quiet'.
-He loves sweets, although his favourite is cotton candy.
-He has a low tolerance to spice and alcohol. Kiyoshi has an unexpected side when he's drunk. What could it be?

Okada Taiyou

"Heya guys, Okada Taiyou's in the house! But please, call me Tai! Aghhh, I'm super stoked to finally meet y'all, not saying anything was killing me! Ahaha, not really but you get it! I can't wait to get to know y'all!"


With his sunny smile and bright personality, Taiyou is the moodmaker of the Supernatural Detective Agency and joined after he was discovered in one of their supposedly vacant rooms.
Having passed away 7 years ago at the age of 20, he is unable to move onto the afterlife as he doesn't know what his cause of death was. Trapped in the human realm with little memory about his death, he seeks the help of the agency. Would you be able to find out what his cause of death was?

Special Abilities
-He can phase through walls, doors and any other obstacles in his way.
-He can float, hover and usually flies around as a result.
-While he can manipulate inanimate objects, he cannot touch real people.

-His birthday is on the 14th of September.
-His first name 'Taiyou' means 'sun', whereas his last name means 'hill/ rice-paddy'. Together, it makes 'sun shining on the rice-paddy'.
-He loves McDoogals and cheap, instant food.
-He has a little brother.
-He occasionally has ghost dogs following him.
-He dislikes people who take things at face value.
-He's perceptive when it comes to people but rather dense when it comes to romance.
-He was in the track and field team during high school. As a result, he was athletic but is out of shape now since he can just float everywhere.
-He has a habit of rubbing the mark around his neck when he's sad or thinking of something.
-He has a friendly nickname for almost everyone in the agency.

Akitomo Hinou

"I-I'm a p-part of this...?! Uhmm....!!! Hello, um, everyone... I'm, uh, Akitomo Hinou...! I'm sorry, I'm no good at introductions, b-but please to meet you...!"


Before joining the Supernatural Detective Agency, Hinou worked at the Royal King's library. Shy and reserved, Hinou is the type that stutters a lot and stumbles over her own words rather often, needing some time around people before she can feel close to them.
Hinou is not a dampir, although she is half-vampire and half-human. Having used her powers to assist the agency with one of their missions, they offered her a position and she gladly joined them.
After spending a large majority of her time in the library and away from society due to being a half-vampire, she's no longer accustomed to dealing with others and isn't quite sure whether she'll fit into the agency, especially after what her life was like in the past. Will you be the one to help her overcome her anxiety?

Special Abilities
-As a half-vampire, her powers are limited and she doesn't possess skills that pureborns might have, like super-strength and agility. As such, she doesn't need blood to survive but it does enhance her abilities.
-She can transform into a bat and fly around.
-She has an incredible sense of smell and hearing. As a result, she can hear heartbeats from a mile away.

-Her birthday is on the 14th of March.
-Hinou, Kiyoshi and Daichi sometimes have teatime together.
-Despite being a vampire, she doesn't like drinking blood.
-She is extremely intelligent and performs well academically.
-She's somewhat nocturnal as she prefers to work at night and likes resting during the day.
-She's read most of the books in the library she works at and has reread the supernatural books several times.

Fukuyasu Souji

"Don't expect me to start acting like a well-behaved pet or anything -- but whatever, let's just take the time to get to know each other better, maybe even stir up some trouble together."


Souji is the reluctant kamaitachi that's made to join the Supernatural Detective Agency for a short period of time to repent for his earlier misdeeds. Sarcastic and playful, he often teases and banters with everyone a little. Even though he does such gimmicks, Souji still cares for everyone in the agency. Despite his reluctance and all his complaints, he does his work properly and joins the others on missions.

Special Abilities
-As one of the stronger kamaitachi, he can effortlessly switch between his human and kamaitachi form.
-He can create whirlwinds using his sickles and often rides them.
-He has the ability to ride the wind and can heal certain injuries.
-He can cut incredibly fast without spilling blood.

-His birthday is the 28th of February.
-He is the second tallest member in the agency.
-He has several piercings and many scars all over his body. An image can be found here.
-The bell he wears is his family heirloom and was passed down to him by his great uncle.
-He is often scolded by Kiyoshi due to how much salt he consumes.
-He is extremely perceptive and can usually tell when someone is lying.
-Before Souji and Katashi officially met, they often bantered and competed against each other on Twitter. They still argue often.
-Likewise to Taiyou, he has a nickname for everyone but they are mostly condescending, for example, Kiyoshi's called the 'Bird man' and Hinou is the 'pipsqueak'.

Hajime Katashi

"Hm... a new mission huh? Consider me interested. I'm Katashi Hajime, pleased to meet you all. I'm looking forward to interacting with all of you. Huh? Where do I work? That's a secret."


Katashi is a government agent that works alongside Mizuki, and is also her childhood friend. Loyal to his friends, he's remained by Mizuki's side for as long as they've known each other and also seeks vengeance as he tries to uncover the murderer of her parents.
Under his seemingly cold, aloof personality lies a sarcastic, lazy man that loves to game and binge on anime. Although, due to unfortunate circumstances, he had to move into the dorms temporarily and is made to help the agency with several missions.

Having remained by Mizuki's side, he too witnessed the incident of her parents being murdered and despises supernaturals. With a heavy heart, he's held down by the past and his sights are set on nothing but revenge. Will you be the one that can lift that burden of his?

-His birthday is the 22nd of September.
-He is the tallest member in the agency.
-His preferred choice of weapon is a gun, but in close combat, he uses his fists and kicks.
-Despite appearances, he is one of the higher-ups in the governement and is actually very intelligent, but he is also close-minded and extremely stubborn.
-He swore to protect Mizuki when he was a kid and has loved her since their childhood.
-He's loyal to a fault.
-He used to be shorter than Mizuki but ended up having a huge growth spurt during puberty.
-He likes keeping things in order and keeping up appearances at work, but otherwise, he is an extremely lazy man at home. As a result, Mizuki reminds him weekly to do his household chores and laundry.
-Katashi and Mizuki often get into fights about ice cream, insisting that the flavour they have is the best one there is.

Supernatural Detective Agency

Fawkes

Fawkes is the Director of the Supernatural Detective Agency. He is a nine-tailed kitsune supernatural with 9 different forms that he can transform into, with each tail signifying one form. He wears an eyepatch over one eye due to an injury. While he is the Director, he usually doesn't do much of his work, resulting in Daichi scolding him. Despite his carefree personality, he cares deeply for all his employees and would never allow harm to befall them.

Trivia
-His birthday is on the 28th of December.
-He is 189cm and 901 years old. As a result, he only recently earned his 9th tail. His third tail is the shortest due to a wound.
-He is technologically challenged and is being taught by Taiyou and Kiyoshi.
-He makes a sort of "Uufyuu~" noise when he's upset.
-He likes smoking his pipe, sake, puzzles and hot springs. His favourite food is karaage (a type of deep-fried chicken).
-He dislikes complicated technology, spicy food and loud noises.
-He often burns his tongue on tea.

Nakagawa Daichi

Daichi became Fawkes' secretary when Kiyoshi left to join the Supernatural Squad to assist Mizuki. Being both straightforward and harsh, he ensures all his work is completed before he decides to relax, often scolding Fawkes for neglecting his own work, resulting in him doing it himself with many complaints. Despite how he treats the Director, he has only sworn his absolute loyalty to Fawkes.
Daichi is is a half-supernatural that has the ability to see someone's true form in their reflection, thus he carries a pocket watch with a mirror inside around. However, as he's only a halfling, there are times where his visions are inaccurate. Although, they are updated with the more knowledge he possesses about the person and his opinions about them.

-His birthday is on the 14th of August.
-He is 178cm and 33 years old.
-Before Kiyoshi joined the agency, Daichi was Fawkes' secretary. When Kiyoshi became Fawkes' secretary, he did other paperwork.
-The pocket watch-mirror combination that Daichi carries around was gifted to him by Fawkes.
-He has a strong moral code and follows the rules strictly, expecting others to do the same, usually lecturing them when they don't.
-He likes keeping busy, all sorts of tea and reading.
-He's not good at dealing with stress, so he has a tendency to turn to coffee when he's feeling stressed.
-He was the one that showed Kiyoshi the ropes when the latter first joined the agency.
-When it comes to romance, he is extremely dense and cannot read the atmosphere.

Watanabe Akiko

Like Mizuki, Akiko is one of the few humans in the Supernatural Detective Agency. Despite that, she's extremely competent and is often sent to gather information and complete solo missions. As a result, she is rarely seen around the dorms. She gives off a cool-headed and calm impression, but is also occasionally strict, but due to her usual face resembling that of a scowl, she usually comes off as intimidating at first. She prefers to uphold her strong image, but occasionally worries about her appeal as a woman.

Trivia
-She is 183cm and 27 years old.
-She joined the agency after Kiyoshi.
-Her weapon of choice is a whip and a gun. When it comes to close combat, she uses brass knuckles as she's skilled in martial arts.
-She often challenges Souji and Katashi to arm-wrestling and sparring matches, trying to determine who's stronger out of the three. It's currently a close match.
-She wants to become as strong as the Director so she works out regularly.
-She likes strong flavoured, sour and bitter foods, coffee, denim fashion and leather jackets.
-She dislikes people that underestimate her and things that can distract her from battle.
-As a result of her strong food preferences, she usually carries a packet of mints.
-While she always reports to Daichi, the two still don't have a very good relationship with each other and often get into fights. Despite this, she still respects his professionalism.

Character Creation

Kurokawa Mizuki
When we created Mizuki, we all wanted a strong heroine that was able to fight her own battles, without needing helpp from other people. We sincerely hope that she gives off that sort of impression as she slowly begins to reform herself through the series. We were a bit worried that she was starting to seem like a damsel in distress in the beginning chapters, but perhaps, it was those weaknesses that led her to find her inner strength. Please continue cheering for her, along with us.

Kazehaya Kiyoshi
Kiyoshi's hair was originally more of a white colour and he had a thin streak of purple in his hair, but now it's more of a light purple hue. It can be found in his character sheet here.

Akitomo Hinou
All of us collectively decided that we wanted a female love interest in the story and decided to make Hinou.
Fukuyasu Souji
We wanted a character that had an outwardly tough appearance, but had a heart of gold on the inside. With that idea in mind, we thought of Souji.
Hajime Katashi
Katashi was originally going to be a supernatural, just like the rest of the love interests, but we wanted to keep a human in the series, aside from Mizuki, so he was kept as a human. The original plan was him being human at first but after he was involved in a certain predicament, he was turned into a werewolf supernatural and in his route, Mizuki is made to help him overcome his internalised hatred for supernaturals and confront that dilemma together.

We originally were thinking of making a trailer for Misaligned Stars and have them voiced, but we decided against it since none of us were confident in our own voices and we didn't want to use edited footage from other series due to copyright issues.
